Mud Motor Marine Gas Tank Conversion
Parts list and instructions to install a fuel pump and large marine tank to increase range for wilderness travel via longtail outboards
I built my first mud motor from an SPS longtail kit in 2014. This first thing I did was start modifying the engine for more horsepower. It's a wonder these stock power generation engines can run at all because they're choked down via the carburetor and exhaust.
The open element air filter and bigger exhaust pipe made for more power. That meant the motor burned more gas: a lot more. I then went on tho build the entire motor form the inside out with high grade racing component. It make power, my goodness it made power, but I burned a lot more gas, a whole lot more. The one gallon tank would only carry me about three miles up stream. Yup, three miles per gallon. I loved the power, but it came at the expense of range.
Simple solution: Use a six gallon marine gas tank powered by a vacuum fuel pump. Serious range is now at hand!
